PDE Issues Clarification on Face Coverings in Schools

On Monday, August 17, 2020, the Pennsylvania Department of Education issued clarification to school districts regarding face coverings.  Because it is a change to our plans, we felt it important to get the information to you quickly.  Effective immediately, learners are required to wear face coverings in schools, even if they are able to maintain six-feet distancing.  They are permitted to remove face coverings during lunch, and during "face covering breaks" which cannot exceed 10 minutes.  There are exceptions for learners who have medical, mental health, or disabilities as defined in IDEA.  We are certain that many of you have concerns regarding this notification.  Please contact your child's building principal if you need to talk about his/her return to school.
